LONDON AUDIOBOOKS · IDEAS AND LEARNING

Factual and Nonfiction
audiobook production.

Make knowledge engaging from the first chapter.

A factual audiobook needs to carry an argument, explanation or account in a way that listeners can follow. We plan tone, specialist language and manuscript preparation together, giving the material authority without unnecessary stiffness.

For publishers, rights owners and independent authors.

A VOICE THAT FITS THE BOOK

The right performance changes how the words are heard.

Choose a reader who can communicate the subject naturally. An audition should include both explanatory prose and the most demanding terminology in the book.

We cast to the manuscript and the creative brief, with auditions where required. Author reads, professional narrators and multi-voice productions each need a different plan. Your producer helps turn those options into a clear decision before the full recording begins.

BUILT FOR THIS KIND OF BOOK

A considered process.
A coherent audio edition.

01

Prepare the manuscript

Provide a pronunciation guide and identify tables, notes, references and illustrations. Agree what is spoken, adapted or supplied separately before recording.

02

Direct the performance

Choose a reader who can communicate the subject naturally. An audition should include both explanatory prose and the most demanding terminology in the book.

Agree a sample and carry its creative decisions through the sessions, with preparation and breaks planned around long-form performance.

03

Edit and proof with care

Proof technical terms, names and figures against the approved text. Keep corrections traceable and preserve qualifications that are essential to the author’s meaning.

The technical finish follows the agreed delivery specification, with organised files and a clear process for approval.

A USEFUL FIRST CONVERSATION

Bring us the book.
We’ll plan the production.

You do not need to arrive with every production decision made. A representative sample and a clear indication of the intended release will give us a useful starting point.

BEFORE YOU COMMISSION

Factual and Nonfiction audio,
with the details considered.

Is every part of a nonfiction book read aloud?

Not always. The publisher or rights owner approves the treatment of references, tables, appendices and other material so the audio edition remains useful and faithful.

Can you produce the whole audiobook?

Yes. The service can cover manuscript preparation, casting, direction, recording, editing, proofing, quality control, mastering and delivery. You can also commission a defined stage. The scope and review process are agreed in your quote.

How is the price worked out?

Send the word count, manuscript status, number of readers, title count and target delivery date. Narrator fees are quoted separately. Multi-reader, full-cast and immersive work receives a tailored quote; distribution is an optional, separately quoted service.

Can the author or publisher attend remotely?

Remote direction and monitoring are available. Agree the participants, connection arrangements and review responsibilities before recording so the team can prepare the session.

Will the audiobook meet my distributor’s requirements?

Provide the intended platform or distributor specifications when you commission the work. We agree the mastering, chapter organisation and delivery requirements for your project. Production does not by itself guarantee retailer acceptance or publication.

Where are the recording studios?

London Audiobooks is based at Academic House, 24-28 Oval Road, Camden, London NW1 7DJ, within the wider Fitzrovia Post facility. Contact the team to discuss dates, access requirements or a studio visit.
