Historical Fiction
audiobook production.
Bring another time to life through the human story.
Historical fiction needs a performance that feels grounded without putting distance between the book and its audience. We plan the voice, unfamiliar language and cultural references before the recording sessions begin.
For publishers, rights owners and independent authors.
Human-led production at our Camden studios.

FROM MANUSCRIPT TO MASTERED AUDIO
The right performance changes how the words are heard.
Agree the level of period flavour and any accents through a sample. The narrator should make the characters intelligible and emotionally present across the whole book.
We cast to the manuscript and the creative brief, with auditions where required. Author reads, professional narrators and multi-voice productions each need a different plan. Your producer helps turn those options into a clear decision before the full recording begins.

A coherent audio edition.
Prepare the manuscript
Supply researched pronunciations, names, titles and unfamiliar terms. Identify quotations in other languages and agree who approves those readings.
Direct the performance
Agree the level of period flavour and any accents through a sample. The narrator should make the characters intelligible and emotionally present across the whole book.
Agree a sample and carry its creative decisions through the sessions, with preparation and breaks planned around long-form performance.
Edit and proof with care
Keep the pronunciation reference consistent throughout the edit. Flag uncertainty for the appointed reviewer rather than allowing an improvised reading to become the final master.
The technical finish follows the agreed delivery specification, with organised files and a clear process for approval.

A proper home for long-form performance.

You do not need to arrive with every production decision made. A representative sample and a clear indication of the intended release will give us a useful starting point.
Historical Fiction audio,
with the details considered.
Will the narrator use a period accent?
That is a creative choice, not an automatic requirement. Discuss the audience, text and desired degree of authenticity during casting and approve the approach before recording.
Can you produce the whole audiobook?
Yes. The service can cover manuscript preparation, casting, direction, recording, editing, proofing, quality control, mastering and delivery. You can also commission a defined stage. The scope and review process are agreed in your quote.
How is the price worked out?
Send the word count, manuscript status, number of readers, title count and target delivery date. Narrator fees are quoted separately. Multi-reader, full-cast and immersive work receives a tailored quote; distribution is an optional, separately quoted service.
Can the author or publisher attend remotely?
Remote direction and monitoring are available. Agree the participants, connection arrangements and review responsibilities before recording so the team can prepare the session.
Will the audiobook meet my distributor’s requirements?
Provide the intended platform or distributor specifications when you commission the work. We agree the mastering, chapter organisation and delivery requirements for your project. Production does not by itself guarantee retailer acceptance or publication.
